May 23'

Happy Birthday Honey!
Tuesday, May 2nd we celebrated Honey's birthday at La Cabana in Santa Paula.
Erik and Tanner were under the weather but it was a great to get together!

President's Award
Wednesday May 10th Shield Healthcare held their Awards Banquet at The Oaks Grille. Erik decided not to go but won the President's Award!
The presentation speech: "This next person has only been with Shield for 3 years. In that time, he has become the lead architect in maintaining and managing Shield’s computing environment and has been the Subject Matter Expert in setting up our Disaster Recovery infrastructure. He is a mentor within his department and the go-to guy for complex resolutions. He puts in countless hours to ensure our systems operate effectively. Please join me in recognizing Erik Jegel with this President’s Award."

Saugus Color Guard Finale, kinda...
Jadyn and I had a "Girls Afternoon" to put the finishing touches on her banquet look.
Got her hair cut, had lunch at Presto Pasta and found the perfect shoes for her dress.
She sure does take a beating in color guard, but she loves it!

Saturday, May 6th we attended the Saugus Band and Color Guard Banquet at the new Canyon Country Community Center. 4 hours of waiting for Stone Fire Grill, Awards, slideshow and the announcement of next years leaders and show!

Wednesday, May 17th the team was presented with awards at the William S Hart District office for their amazing accomplishment!

Tuesday, May 23rd the team performed 6 times (not including the warm-ups run) for the Arroyo Seco Junior High Recruitment Day.
And Amazonia Nocturna is officially retired!
Let's burn those braids!!!!

Anyone up for Mexican?
No such thing as too much good Mexican food. Two days after Honey's birthday Grama Jean made "Cinco de Mayo" dinner. Thursday, May 11th was lunch at Kalaveras for my co-worker Christina's going away, to Arizona. That night I met up with the KB Girls for dinner at Sabor!
Angela, Kylie, Torey, Christina and Heidi at Kalaveras in Simi Valley
Celebrating Rachel and Yvette's Birthdays at Sabor!

Happy Mother's Day!
Mom and I started the celebration on Friday, May 12th with our morning walk followed by breakfast at Mimi's Café and pedicures.
Morning walk at Bridgeport
Bacon, mushroom and brie omelets!

Saturday, May 13th we celebrated at Grama Jean and Papa's. We laid by the pool, had Mexican from La Cocina and dessert from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
Lemon! One of my favorites!

Happy 46th Birthday E!
Happy birthday to the best husband, friend and father to our kids that I could have ever asked for.

That's brisket in that big package! He loves to smoke! MEAT, not cigars! :)

Balloon hat by Bubba. Everyone gets a turn!

Off to Washington DC!
Did I say the Color Guard was a wrap?! Not for at least 3 more years but this year Saugus was invited to march the Memorial Day Parade in Washington DC! 4 days of adventure and chaos!

Saturday, May 27th Ethan dropped the 3 of us off at Saugus at 6am for our 10:35am flight out of LAX. Ethan stayed home to finish his finals and work. He had Honey and Bubba over for a burger night :)
Invasion of Red Robin for dinner!
Good thing they knew we were coming :)

Sunday, May 28th we did some sightseeing and the kids attended a band/guard clinic.
We stayed at the Hilton McLean in Virginia.
Nice place until a few high school bands arrived!
White House and the Iwo Jima Memorial
Over 100 of us!
Arlington Cemetery: Tomb of the Unknown Solider
Guard Clinic at Northern Virginia Community College

Monday, May 29th was breakfast at 7am (girls were up at 5am for hair and make-up), tour of the capitol, a mad rush to the staging area and marching in the rain!
Sienna, Fallon, Riley photo bomb
Capitol Rotunda
Superior Court Building
These steps will forever be remembered as the spot Shannon bruised her knee and required a trip to the hospital delaying our drive to the parade.
Getting ready for the parade
It drizzled during the parade but really came down when they finished.
Jean and Carl were in DC for the parade and their own adventure.
We saw them long enough to get a hug and keep running! No picture :(
The start!
The finish!
This is the band that marched in front of us. Amazing energy!
Great view of the Washington Monument from our last stop, Lincoln Memorial
3 of the 4 roomies! Riley, Jadyn and Drisana. Just missing Sienna
From the back of the Lincoln Memorial

And that's a wrap on Freshman year for Ethan (college) and Jadyn (high school)!
Guard Camp is next week!!! :) No rest for the weary!
