August 13'

Camping in Santa Barbara
Monday, August 4th we headed to Santa Barbara for our summer camping trip. It turned out a little different than we had planned but, still a great time! We were going to do 2 nights but, Erik had training for work so we left Monday morning for the beach. We rented a surrey bike (it's on my bucket list to buy one some day). The kids loved it and we got a good workout! We ate lunch on the pier and headed to our campsite at the Fremont Campground in Santa Barbara. After setting up camp we went on a short hike, took a drive to Lake Cachuma and played family hide n seek. Unfortunately, they were not allowing camp fires or barbecues due to the dry conditions but, we ate cold s'mores and the kids didn't seem to mind at all! The campsite was on a bit of a slope so we all slid slowly to one end of the tent during the night :). By morning we were all pretty tired so we decided to pack it up and head home. It was a good first camping trip with the kids and now we have some better ideas for the next one!

Finally got our s'mores! A week later...

First Day of School!
It seems like summer just flew by! Jadyn started Kindergarten. She LOVES it! She told us she wanted to "stay all day" after she came home from her first day.
Ethan really likes his teacher, Mr. Devore. He was bummed that his buddy Cade wasn't in his class this year but, Ethan L. and Alex (buddies from his Kindergarten class and t-ball etc...) are with him. He was pretty nervous on the first day but, got right into the swing of things by day 2!

Goobers :)
Ethan helped Jadyn with her outfit but, of course wouldn't dress himself :)
Watching a show with "Cozy Stinky Daddy". That's really what she calls him :)

Hockey, Softball, Training and more!
Erik's hockey team ended the season in the first round of play-offs this season. Not the way they wanted to go out after an overtime and a shoot-out against the 4th place team :( At least he got a much needed break and "The Best Goaltender Award". He headed to a 4 day training for work a few days after the season ended. Four 12+ hour days in a row! He said it was intense but, he got so much out of it.
While Erik was gone I got a little break while kids stayed with the grandparents for a few nights since I was at work all day. I managed to get Laryngitis just before Erik left and completely lost my voice for a few days. Erik's dream come true :)
The softball season ended this month too. We managed to get a few wins in the second half and ended the season 4-6. I was busy managing and taking pictures so no pictures of me this season.
It's no secret that he doesn't have much of an arm but he can hit, run and catch with the best of them :)
