Jadyn's Recital
Jadyn had her summer recital at Glendale High School Sunday, June 4th and it was a busy day! Ethan had tennis at 6:30am, Jadyn's recital was at 2pm and I had my first softball game of the season at 6:10pm! And it all went great!
Jadyn before pictures and rehearsal. Jadyn and Grace. Grace was in the 5pm show.
Ethan's Tennis League
They wrapped up the spring league and started the summer league. Tuesday mornings from 6-8am!
Schools Out!
Jadyn got the award for "scholarly learner." (Don't ask me what that means, I must not be one.)
Camping in Yosemite
Sunday, June 14th we packed up Grama Jean and Papa's minivan (thank you for letting us borrow it!) and headed for the mountains! Sunday was cool but nice when we left Santa Clarita and the weather held out until we were down into the Yosemite Valley. Then the rain and hail started! We set-up camp in the light rain and then walked to lower Yosemite Falls and the grocery store. The rain held out long enough for us to cook some hot dogs and roast marshmallows over the fire, then there was rain and hail all night, it even snowed in the upper mountains with a low of about 30 degrees in the valley!
Packed and ready to go !
This is was 6am looks like!
Our tent and EZ-up with the van in site #42
The river just across from our camp site
3 deer grazing in the meadow on our walk
These are "dear" but not "deer", those are in the background :)

Roasting hot dogs
"Turtle" when the smoke blows in your direction
Day 2: Monday, June 15th we hiked to Vernal Falls via the Mist Trail. Now I know why they call it that! We were pretty soaked when we finally made it up the treacherous granite stairs to the top. We decided the Muir Trail would be a better way down even though it was longer. I managed to get a migraine as we reached the top with no medicine in the backpack :(
After a nice nap in the tent we were all feeling refreshed so we biked over to Half Dome Village for pizza (Ethan had a hot dog, of course).
Waterfalls and snow on the way up to Vernal Falls
Vernal Falls
Made it to the top!
Barely... And then my migraine set in :(
Nevada Falls from the Muir Trail
Day 3: Tuesday, June 16th we did the much shorter and mostly flat hike to Mirror Lake, then biked to The Ahwahnee Hotel (now The Majestic) for drinks out on the patio (just like when I was a kid :) )
In the evening it was warm enough to stay up until the stars came out around 10pm. We wandered over to the amphitheater for star gazing and an impromptu shadow puppet show on the big screen with our flashlights :)
Ethan and Jadyn are in there somewhere
Mirror Lake
Strawberry Daiquiri's and a Shirley Temple at the Ahwahnee
Jadyn and daddy biking around the campgrounds. Nice bike and helmet E, I think that's Ethan's :)
Don't touch my marshmallows! I lived in my KB jacket until the last day
Day 4: Wednesday, June 19th we packed up and made one last stop at Bridalveil Falls.
Bridalveil Falls
One last look :(
Awake and yapping on the whole drive until we were 20 minutes from home!
Happy Father's Day
The kids and I made Erik breakfast. I think they are old enough to do that on their own so I'm taking next year off! I headed off to work but Erik and kids went swimming at Grama Jean and Papa's. I was able to join them in the afternoon for an early dinner before Erik went to his hockey game.
Monday Funday
Monday Funday
I started two bags, one for "Activities" and one for "Treats." Each week the kids get to pick one from each bag for us to do on my days off. Jadyn made the first picks, Paint a Dream and Golden Spoon!

Golden Spoon: Ethan didn't get chocolate, he got mai tai!
